The People of Japan
Japan is an island country located just off the east coast of Asia. At first glance, the people of Japan appear to be the most socially and ethnically homogeneous groups in the world. However, upon closer inspection, it is apparent that there is a wide range of ethnicities that reside in Japan. The largest ethnic groups represented are originally from Korea, China, Brazil, and the Philippines In fact, since 1970 there has been a steady inflow of Brazilians of Japanese descent, leaving this group of people to make up 5-10% of the population in some industrial towns in Japan. In general, people of Japan are very polite, punctual, kind, respectful, and hard-working. Stereotypically they are also shy and intelligent, and are seen as very respectful, which is a true trait.
Difficulties and Challenges
In Japan, there are many actions or lack thereof that can be seen as rude, or unacceptable in society and the workplace. For example, leaving your job at the time it ends, or before your superiors is considered rude. This causes most workers to get less than 6 hours of sleep daily, which is tied with Seoul, South Korea for the least amount of sleep in the world. Furthermore, there is a lack of steady jobs, so fewer working-class men and women are getting jobs. Men that have steady jobs are considered desirable partners in Japan, and if at neither person of the couple who wishes to be wed has a steady job, the respective families would object to the marriage. The same holds true for if the couple has irregular jobs. Additionally, being late is unacceptable in the Japanese culture and workplace, as it is seen as not caring enough.

The Beauty of Japan
Japan is well known for it's beauty, as well as the busy cities. Japan is home to beautiful paths with wisteria draped over top, and gorgeous water front views. The 123 Torii gates stretch from the Motonosumi-Inari Shrine to the cliff overlooking the ocean. Motonosumi-Inari is a popular shrine where locals wish for success. The final Torii's donation box is placed out of reach at the top of the gate. It's believed that if you can successfully toss money into the box, all your wishes will come true. Japan is also where Nachi Falls can be found, the largest waterfall in the country. Fall at Mount Hiuchi brings out spectacular colors on Koya Pond. The shallow and marshy water covered with vegetation changes colors- into red, orange, yellow and green - like the forest around it. On the edge of the pond, Kouyaike Hutte provides beds and kitchen facilities if you need a rest on you hike up the 2,462-meter-tall mountain. These are just a few of the many natural wonders contained in Japan.
